The crash occurred round 1.30pm on the intersection of SH1 and Breadings Rd, police say.

Police say the 2 deceased had been within the campervan and that the car “for some unknown reason” crossed the centre line, hitting the ute which was travelling in the wrong way.

There had been no different occupants within the campervan. Senior Sgt Pete Stills of Selwyn Police mentioned it was “quite probable” the 2 lifeless had been overseas nationals and had been aged of their 20s or early 30s.

The driver of the ute suffered an arm injured and was taken to hospital.
