In Ogun: “Travel agent” arraigned for alleged N300,000 visa rip-off

A 45-year-old man, Kayode Oladapo, who posed as a journey agent, was on Friday hauled up earlier than an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court for allegedly acquiring N300,000 from a lady on the pretext of procuring Turkish visas for her and her son.

The accused, whose handle is unknown, is going through a two-count cost of fraud and stealing.

Oladapo, nonetheless, pleaded innocence of the offences.

But the Prosecutor, Insp. Olakunle Shonibare, insisted that the accused dedicated the offences someday in 2015 at Onikolobo space of Abeokuta.

Shonibare stated Oladapo, who posed as a journey agent, had promised to help the complainants, Mrs Folashade Willams and her son, Akinwunmi, to safe two Turkish visas and was paid N300, 000.

“After accumulating N300,000 from the complainants, the accused did not get the visas as promised however transformed the cash to non-public use.”

The offences contravened Sections 390(9), 419, and 516 of the Criminal Law of Ogun State, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mr Idowu Olayinka, granted the accused bail within the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Olayinka stated the sureties ought to produce proof of tax cost to the Ogun Government and needs to be resident within the state.

She adjourned the case till May 22 for listening to.
